We are starting off 2017 with a workshop that dives into the details behind dying fiber with natural materials such as roots, flowers and nuts. Rebekka Seale of Camellia Fiber Company teaches how to use natural dye baths to create all sorts of beautiful dyed yarns! We'll take the finished yarn and turn it into a beautiful wall hanging though the expertise of Lisa Garcia of Sonadora Studios. This mid-month episode shares more on an upcoming pop-up shop where we revisit all of the workshops and materials kits from 2016 (plus a few more!). In September we are exploring wool felting with fiber artist Dani Ives. We're hosting a pop-up shop to share past workshops and material's kits! From July 2-6 we'll release featured maker projects from the first seven months of The Crafter's Box. In this episode we share more on how this pop-up shop will work, what awesome kits it will include and the details on how to participate.
In July, we are working with Rachel Denbow to learn more about the age-old art of batik wax resist dying to create two beautiful wall hangings for the home. Rachel shares about her background in making and what draws her to life as a crafter. As the author of a book, editor of her own blog and contributing writer to others (such as A Beautiful Mess), Rachel has honed her artistic style by practicing a wide variety of different crafting mediums. Batik dying is a special and favorite! This month we are working closely again with husband-and-wife woodworking team Jeff and Cherie Kirschenman who have built the wooden hangers that suspend each beautiful piece of batik art as well.
